Project status: in development.
Before her death in 2000, the late Ruth Harrison, author of the groundbreaking 1964 book Animal Machines: The New Factory Farming Industry, bestowed on her close friends Diane and Marlene Halverson literally a ton of her correspondence and research materials, including books, scientific journals, photos, articles, and reports. Her expectation was that the collection would be useful to the Halversons in their shared passion – farm animal welfare advocacy. Harrison also entrusted them with the honor of selecting, editing, and publishing a compilation of her other writings as a sequel to Animal Machines. Halverson Projects is now curating a book comprised of Harrison’s seminal writings.
